An anonymous Maryland woman received a ticket on I95 for doing 63 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone. Police say the reason they ticketed her was that she was driving in the left lane reserved for speedier commuters. I always believed that the left lane was universally known to be the “fast lane” (but not “legally” so)… but it was legally/technically only a “passing lane”. The woman claims she was trying to drive safely. That’s fine if you want to be safe and drive slow… Do it in the right lane… The left lane is for passing. If you’re doing the speed limit or under in the left lane: you are just interrupting the flow of traffic and contributing to traffic jams.
